Coordinate pool coping with the deck material, finish and edge detail. Confirm available profiles before ordering travertine, marble, limestone or shellstone.
Start with the pool-edge detail
Coping forms the edge, while pavers form the deck. Matching material names do not prove that the profile and dimensions will fit.
Give your pool installer the proposed width, thickness, edge profile and overhang. Include the deck level and the joint between coping and paving.
Use the size and edge selection guide for the basic coping decision. This guide focuses on coordinating the materials.
Travertine deck and coping
Compare a paver color sample with the proposed coping product, finish and current lot information. Color and natural voids can vary between pieces and lots. Confirm whether standard or remodeling coping suits the pool. A color sample does not establish the coping profile or dimensions.
Read standard versus remodeling profiles. Keep the selected stone, profile and format in the written proposal.
Marble deck and coping
Our current catalogue includes Pearl marble coping. It can provide a coordinated or contrasting edge, depending on the deck selection. Do not assume it matches every marble color.
Compare 12×24 Pearl marble coping with the deck sample. Confirm current dimensions and finish on the product page.
A sandblasted or leathered paver and a tumbled coping can have different surface characters. Review the proposed combination in person.
Limestone and shellstone decks
These pale materials need their stated installation and sealing requirements. The coping needs its own product specification and a compatible setting system.
Do not assume matching limestone or Shellstone coping is stocked because the pavers are listed. Ask our team to confirm current profiles or an appropriate alternative.
A custom fabrication proposal should state dimensions, edge detail, material and terms before approval.
Check geometry and care
- Straight runs, curves, corners and steps.
- Joint spacing and intended cuts.
- Full support beneath the coping.
- The movement joint at the deck.
- Compatible setting and sealing products.
- Pool-water exposure and cleaning requirements.
