Marble pavers can suit exterior projects with the correct finish and installation. Compare texture, tone and care before selecting a pool deck.
Select exterior marble by finish
Marble pavers are not the same product as polished interior marble tile. Our catalogue includes exterior marble with different finishes. Read the actual finish on the product page.
Sandblasted marble has a matte, textured face. Leathered marble has a worked surface with a different feel. Tumbled marble has softened edges and its own surface character.
Do not assume these names give the same wet-surface performance. Ask your installer to assess the selected product for the project.
| Finish | Surface character | What to review |
|---|---|---|
| Sandblasted | Matte, textured face. | The texture of the selected marble, including a wet sample and product-specific surface information. |
| Leathered | Worked surface with a different feel from a smooth honed face. | The actual face texture, cleaning method and proposed coping combination. |
| Tumbled | Softened edges and a distinct surface character. | Edge shape, planned joints and the actual surface of the selected marble. |
Compare color and movement
Marble can show veins, clouding and shifts in tone. These features vary between pieces. A sample shows part of the stone’s range, not every paver in an order.
Compare samples in sunlight and shade. Place the paver beside the pool finish and coping. Request current lot information when a close color match is important.
Choose format and thickness
Check the face size, thickness and crate coverage. A 16×24 rectangle creates a different layout from French Pattern or a small border format.
Confirm the total finished height with bedding or setting layers. Check thresholds, drains and pool-edge transitions. Thickness alone does not prove suitability for vehicle loads.
Plan installation and maintenance
Use a qualified installer to confirm the base, drainage and movement details. For bonded light marble, select setting materials compatible with the actual stone.
Marble can be affected by acids. Use a compatible care plan and keep cleaning products away from the stone unless approved. A sealer does not make marble acid-proof.
The travertine-specific Limited Warranty does not establish marble coverage. Read the product and order terms.
If sealer is proposed, confirm that it is compatible with the exact marble, finish and installation system. Keep its name and care instructions with the product specification. A sample test can help you review appearance before full application.
Compare with a specific product
Browse marble pavers. Start with 16×24 Vanilla sandblasted marble pavers when a pale, textured rectangle suits the design.
Read the general paver selection guide for the overall project comparison. Use the finish guide for surface differences. Read how to coordinate coping with the deck before assuming a matching profile is available.
