Labor Day’s right around the corner, and you’ll want to make sure that your travertine pool pavers are looking their best for when you throw what may be the last outdoor party of the summer season. You want to be sure to have some sort of get-together during this end-of-summer holiday so that you can have an opportunity to show off your natural stone pavers and enjoy your stone patio designs with friends and family before it gets too cold.
If you’ve never thrown a Labor Day party before, you may be thinking of simply having a regular old barbecue. However, in order to make your Labor Day celebration a truly unique one, you should consider throwing a backyard party with a theme. Consider trying out one of these themes for your big event.
1. Beach theme – Labor Day comes at the end of the summer, and it may be months until people in some parts of the U.S. make it to the beach again. This is why you should throw a beach-themed party, even if you don’t live anywhere near the shore. To do this, Yahoo recommended that you decorate your backyard with beach towels, driftwood, sea shells and even a lighthouse made out of cardboard.
2. Campfire theme – Another thing that people may not be able to do for months once the summer ends is go camping. You can throw a campfire-themed party by building a fire pit in your backyard – which is something you can enjoy throughout the fall. Before you build your own fire pit, you should make sure that it complies with your neighborhood codes. Once you have it set up, you can purchase all of the materials for s’mores, and even roast some hot dogs over the fire with your guests. For added fun, consider pitching some tents in your backyard to give your friends some cool spaces to hang out in.
3. Western theme – Country Living magazine suggested throwing a hoedown during the end of the summer. You can ask all of your guests to dress with a country-western theme, and serve simple foods like burgers and fries and use bandanas for napkins. The news source recommended you look for old railroad lanterns to use for lighting when you’re throwing this type of party, and have plenty of horse-themed items around as well.
4. Sports theme – Labor Day represents the peak of baseball season and the beginning of football season, so you should throw a sports-themed event to celebrate this. Rather than picking one sport to feature, have a little something that represents every sport. Place golf balls, bowling balls and basketballs around your yard for guests to fiddle with. Serve food that’s a staple on every concession stand menu, like popcorn, nachos, cotton candy, hot dogs and hamburgers.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, don’t let Labor Day pass you by without taking advantage of one last chance to show your friends and family all of the beautiful travertine pavers you have in your yard.
