With the continuous and increasing demand for travertine products  from Travertine, Italy, once the most prestigious supplier of the travertine stone, has decided to pull back from the global markets. Italy still manufactures travertine, however the Italian companies are choosing to be in the ultra luxury market with only the most exceptional travertine products therefore refusing to compete on a price level with Turkish companies. Today, Turkish natural stone industry has positioned itself as a leader in the Travertine industry, followed by Mexico, Italy and Peru. It’s success is due to its vast resources and incredible geographical deposits, which also allows for variety in color shades and selections. While there is no study based on the comparison of  the quality of travertine from these regions, the majority of the global demand is for Turkish travertine and it is highly sought after. This is most likely due to the affordability of Turkish travertine and the quality of the products Turkey is able to provide.
