There are endless possibilities to consider when it comes to paving stones. However, they all have their advantages and disadvantages.
Some of the most comparable products to Travertine Pavers would be: Limestone Pavers and Marble Pavers.
Limestone Pavers are similar in price to Travertine but cannot come anywhere close to the durability of Travertine. Limestone is an extremely porous material (although the surface is typically honed) and it absorbs anything it comes into contact with. That means, if you step on Limestone with a muddy shoe, chances are it will be extremely difficult to remove.
Marble Pavers are a bit more expensive than Travertine Pavers and, although beautiful, are not the ideal stone to have outside. Marble is extremely dense, and therefore does not have the porosity that Travertine does. Marble does not absorb water nearly as quickly as Travertine and tends to become very wet when slippery.
One of the most popular paving materials would be Brick Pavers. One of the only reasons brick is as popular as it is would be its price – around $2/ sqft. Considering the amount of upkeep for brick – constantly cracking and mildewing – it’s a wonder how this material became so widespread.
